Tillakaratne Dilshan and AB de Villiers: Brutal 122-run partnership
Royal Challengers Bangalore secured a third successive Indian Premier League victory after easing to a 46-run win over Rajasthan Royals at Jaipur.
Fresh from back-to-back victories over Pune Warriors and Kings XI Punjab, Bangalore maintained their fine form with the bat by posting 189-3 from their 20 overs.
The Royals, despite 58 from captain Rahul Dravid at the top of the order, never threatened to chase down the total, with Bangalore spinner KP Appanna finishing with 4-19 as the hosts slumped to 143-8 in reply.
The Challengers were earlier indebted to a brutal partnership of 122 in just 50 deliveries between Tillakaratne Dilshan and AB de Villiers.
The unbroken stand lifted Bangalore from 67-3 after Virat Kohli (16) had fallen to Pankaj Singh (1-32) and Brad Hogg (2-39) removed Mayank Agarwel (15) and the dangerous Chris Gayle (4).
Dilshan blasted 76 not out from 58 balls and De Villiers finished the innings in style, slamming three boundaries and five sixes to end unbeaten on 59 from just 23 deliveries.
Dravid ensured Rajasthan made a quick start in reply, however wickets continued to fall around him as Appanna bamboozled Ajinkya Rahane (13), Owais Shah (10) and Shreevats Goswami (1) in quick succession.
Medium-pacer Harshal Patel (2-32) sealed the inevitable victory with his second wicket off the final ball of the match, leaving six teams tied for first place on eight points in the IPL standings.
