Mandeep Singh: Top-scored with 75
Kings XI Punjab kept their Indian Premier League play-off hopes alive after securing a 25-run victory over struggling Deccan Chargers.
Mandeep Singh set the tone as he smashed 75 in 48 balls at the top of the Kings XI order, helping them to a total of 170-5.
Deccan replied with 144-8, with opener Daniel Harris' 30 their top score, as they were unable to match the rapid scoring of their opponents in Hyderabad.
Apart from Mandeep's innings, which contained eight fours and three sixes, there were four other double-figure contributions in Punjab's score - with David Miller's 28 not out the best of the rest.
Praveen Kumar then bowled four fine four overs to ensure Deccan's response did not get going, removing Shikhar Dawan with his fifth ball and closing with figures of 2-15.
David Hussey ended any hopes of a late comeback, bowling his only over for two runs and claiming the key wickets of Harris and Cameron White (eight).
Hussey finished with 2-2, while Parvinder Awana claimed 2-27 and Ashish Reddy was the pick of the Deccan bowlers with 2-39.
