George Dockrell: Three wickets in Mombasa
George Dockrell claimed three wickets as Ireland drew first blood in the Twenty20 series with a six-wicket victory over Kenya in Mombasa.
The young left-arm off-spinner played a key role in restricting the Africans to just 107 all out in 20 overs, a total Ireland eased past with 27 balls to spare.
Kevin O'Brien struck an unbeaten 30 and Ed Joyce made 24 after Ireland had slumped to 35-3 early in reply.
Kenya were left to rue another inept batting performance in which only four of their batsmen made double figures.
After crashing to 11-3 following a fine opening spell from Dockrell, Tanmay Mishra top-scored with 34 and Ragheb Ada mustered 25 to lift the Kenyans past 100.
Ireland wobbled early in the chase when William Porterfield was run out in the opening over and Paul Stirling and Alex Cusack fell in quick succession.
But experienced duo Joyce and O'Brien put Ireland back on course with a 47-run partnership before John Mooney (16 off eight balls) sealed a convincing victory.
