Friends Provident Trophy - Group B
Somerset 291-3 (P D Trego 73 no, Z De Bruyn 71 no, M E Trescothick 70, J C Hildreth 67) v Kent 181
Somerset beat Kent by 110 runs
Somerset's powerful batting line-up overwhelmed Kent in a rain-reduced FP Trophy clash at Taunton.
The Sabres piled up 291-3 from their 38 overs thanks to explosive knocks from Marcus Trescothick and Peter Trego.
Opener Trescothick hit 11 fours during his 70 off 41 balls, while all-rounder Trego - playing against one of his former counties - finished with 73 not out from 36 balls, including six fours and five sixes.
Those contributions overshadowed solid efforts from James Hildreth (67) and Zander de Bruyn (71no), although Craig Kieswetter missed out the run feast having been bowled for a golden duck by Warren Lee (1-71) with the third delivery of the innings.
Kent lost captain Robert Key (3) early in the run chase and never threatened to overhaul such a large target.
Joe Denly (43) and Geraint Jones (43no) top scored as the visitors collapsed to 181 all out in 33.1 overs.
Seam bowler Alfonso Thomas (3-38) and off-spinner Omari Banks (3-40) both picked up three wickets for the Cidermen, who now have two wins from two in Group B.
