Worcestershire captain Gareth Batty has heaped praise on his team-mates for the spirit they have shown in clinching the NatWest Pro40 title .
The team were on Thursday celebrating after claiming their first piece of silverware in 13 years following their six-wicket victory over Gloucestershire.
In a tough season, which has seen the Royals relegated from the LV County Championship and their New Road ground hit by floods, this trophy is a welcome tonic for Batty and he insists it is well deserved.
He said: "We won't need any help celebrating. There has never been a season like it for weather in our history. But the lads have been great and the spirit in the team has seen us through.
"It's our first trophy for so many years and it is great to have won it."
Worcestershire still had to claim the victory under difficult conditions when a floodlight failure threatened to disrupt proceedings.
Talking about the game, the 29-year-old said: "It wasn't an easy total to face, but we haven't lost a one-day game since the start of June.
"The pitch was a good one for batting and the only time I was worried was when the lights went out. That cost us wickets I'm sure, but we had enough in hand to win."
