James Hildreth has signed a new contract that commits him to Somerset until the end of the 2011 season. Hildreth, 23, scored 1,147 runs in the County Championship last summer and toured India with the England Lions in February. "I am delighted to have signed a new contract and am pretty excited about the prospect of where Somerset are going," he told the county's official website. "I love it here and I am always going to play here. I feel that this squad squad can take Somerset forward, not just in the coming season but also in future years." Director of cricket Brian Rose added: "This is a great thing for the club for two main reasons. James has got fantastic talent and we want him to be here at Somerset as both the team and the ground develop. "It is also a great example for other aspiring young players to see what he has achieved and to see that he will be at the club in the future."
