Abdul Razzaq has been cleared to replace injured paceman Yasir Arafat in Pakistan's ICC World Twenty20 squad.
The 29-year-old all-rounder has not played for his country since May 2007 after signing up to play in the 'rebel' Indian Cricket League.
Razzaq recently terminated his contract with the unsanctioned Twenty20 tournament, though, and has been welcomed back into the international fold as a result.
And the International Cricket Council's (ICC) event technical commitee has now agreed that Razzaq can replace Arafat, who has a hamstring injury.
ICC chief executive Haroon Lorgat said: "The Pakistan Cricket Board has advised the ICC they have imposed a sanction on Abdul Razzaq in accordance with the ICC board resolution."
Razzaq is now in contention to play in Pakistan's first Super Eights encounter against Sri Lanka on Friday.
