Thilan Samaraweera has been recalled to Sri Lanka's one-day squad for the five-match series against Pakistan. Samaraweera, a Test regular in the middle order, last played for his country in the 50-over format in November 2005. Opening batsman Upul Tharanga, overlooked for June's World Twenty20 in England, also returns, while selectors have called up 23-year-old Mahela Udawatte, a left-handed opener, and fast bowler Lasith Malinga. Left-arm seamer Chaminda Vaas, who retired from Test cricket at the end of the drawn final Test against Pakistan in Colombo, was overlooked along with the injured Tillakaratne Dilshan. Dilshan had fractured a finger while keeping wicket in the drawn final Test against Pakistan and is awaiting a medical report from a specialist. The series starts in Dambulla on July 30.
