Aussie all-rounder unavailable for Tykes until end of May
Australia have quashed any hopes Yorkshire had of having overseas star Ryan Harris available for the start of the domestic season, after ordering him to rest.
The White Rose county were hoping to have the Aussie all-rounder at their disposal earlier than expected after he was surprisingly left out of Australia's 15-man squad for next month's World Twenty20.
However, Cricket Australia have moved quickly to end such hopes by informing Yorkshire that Harris requires rest after a hectic recent international schedule.
"Ryan Harris will not be playing for Yorkshire in May after being asked to rest by Cricket Australia," a statement on Yorkshire's official site read.
"The club have been informed that Ryan has a few niggles after his recent exploits for Australia and has been asked to rest up with one eye on his country's tour of England later in the summer.
"There is no guarantee that Harris will be picked in that squad, which will not be announced until after the ICC World Twenty20 has been completed.
"The club will now take some time to consider its options and will not be in a position to make further comment until that deliberation process has been completed."
Yorkshire now look set to start the domestic campaign without an overseas recruit.
New Zealand pace bowler Daryl Tuffey was originally signed as back-up to Harris, however a broken finger sustained against Australia will keep the Kiwi international out for the next six weeks.
