Australia seamer Ben Hilfenhaus is targeting a return to action in June.
Hilfenhaus has not played since the first Test against West Indies last November due to tendonitis in his left knee.
The Tasmanian plans to step up his recovery in the next fortnight when he hopes to be able to walk through his bowling action.
"It has been very frustrating," he told the
Sydney Morning Herald.
"When you look at it, I have missed a fair bit of cricket. There is no good time to get injured.
"It is disappointing, but at the end of the day if it means that my career goes longer then it will be worth it down the track.
"Not a lot of people know about tendonitis. The tendons don't like change so I will have to take it slow. Hopefully I can walk through my action in a couple of weeks."
Opportunity
Hilfenhaus is hoping to make his comeback for Australia A in a four-day fixture against Sri Lanka A in June to put himself in contention for the postponed two-Test series against Pakistan on neutral turf in England in July.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough summer in last year's Ashes series in England when he established his place in the Test team after topping the wicket-taker's list.
However, in his absence fellow seamers Doug Bollinger and Ryan Harris have impressed and Hilfenhaus, who has nine Test caps, knows he will have his work cut out to slot straight back in.
"Everyone gets an opportunity when people get injured," he added.
"I have just got to hopefully get back to bowling well. It might be a tough road ahead but it is a good challenge for me.
"The biggest thing for me is that once I do start bowling again, I prove that I can still bowl well."
