Derbyshire have signed seam bowler Tony Palladino from Essex on a two-year contract.
Palladino, 27, has taken 117 first-class wickets at 34.13 apiece in 52 matches since his debut in 2003.
But he failed to hold down a regular first-team place during eight seasons with Essex and has moved north in an effort to further his career.
"Tony has shown himself to be a reliable and consistent performer with Essex and I am delighted to add him to our bowling ranks," Derbyshire head of cricket John Morris told the county's official website.
"During the early part of last season we successfully operated a rotation policy among our fast bowlers to help manage the demand of the hectic schedule.
"A catalogue of injuries had made that policy impossible by midway through the season, but the addition of Tony will add strength in depth for the 2011 campaign.
"With Tony and Mark Turner now added to those already in the squad, I am pleased with the battery of bowlers we now have available and the options at our disposal."
Meanwhile, veteran seamer Ian Hunter has been released from Derbyshire by mutual consent after seven seasons.
