Indian stalwart says team not comfortable with Bell dismissal
Rahul Dravid said the decision to hand Ian Bell a reprieve on day three of the second Test was a collective one taken by the Indian team.
Bell was allowed to continue his innings after tea despite being run-out off the last ball before tea having thought the ball was dead.
Dravid said: "The guys knew that if you took the letter of the law, Bell was out, but when we went back in there was not a nice feeling, there was already some discussion that probably it was not right.
"When Flower and Strauss came to discuss it with Duncan Fletcher and MS Dhoni, the team met and there was unanimity that we should reinstate Ian Bell.
"Dhoni led it beautifully, he didn't want people walking out not sure of the decision but everyone was behind it and realised there was a bitter feeling in the stomach.
"The laws of game say he was out but we had a similar incident with VVS Laxman stumped in the West Indies, that didn't leave a good taste in our mouth so it was a good opportunity to correct it.
"It wouldn't have been nice if it happened to one of our batsmen and when you see it on TV, probably the right thing was done."
