All-rounder Samit Patel is adamant England can keep the ODI series alive in Mohali following two comprehensive one-day defeats to world champions India.
Alastair Cook's men head to the PCA Stadium for Thursday's third game in the five-match series, after crashing to 126-run and eight-wicket defeats in Hyderabad and Delhi respectively.
England have now won only one of their last 13 ODIs in India, however Patel, who scored a fluent 42 on Monday, is convinced the tourists can hit back in Mohali.
"It is quite tough really. Going 2-0 down is not the best but we have got to stay upbeat," Patel told Sky Sports News HD.
"The series is still alive. We have got to go to Mohali and put these two games behind us. We have got to improve and I don't think we are that far away."
England's batting has let them down so far in the sub-continent with only captain Cook passing 50 runs in the opening two matches.
And Patel admits that is an area of their game the England batsmen are looking to improve.
"People are getting starts with the bat. It is a matter of time really. We have got to stay upbeat," he added. "Getting a win in Mohali is crucial to us.
"Our unit is pretty tight. We stick together no matter what, which is the England team really. That is why we have had the successes we have had, we've stayed tight together."
