Captain and seam duo pen one-year contract extensions

Surrey have been handed a pre-season boost with the news that key trio Jade Dernbach, Rory Hamilton-Brown and Stuart Meaker have all agreed contract extensions with the club. Captain Hamilton-Brown, who led the county to promotion from Division Two of the LV= County Championship, as well as the Clydesdale Bank 40 title, last summer, has agreed a one-year extension that commits him to the club until the end of 2014. England pace bowlers Dernbach and Meaker have signed similar deals, much to the delight of team director Chris Adams. He said: "Both Jade and Stuart are key elements of what we're trying to achieve at Surrey. "They have both been at the club since a young age, shown continuous improvement and are now ready to take their game to the next level." On Hamilton-Brown's commitment, Adams said: "Every developing team needs a strong leader and Rory has given that to us many times over the last two seasons. I am delighted he has agreed to extend his contract with us. "It allows the club to plan for the long-term future and for Rory to continue his development as a captain and a cricketer as he looks to fulfil his ambition of playing at the highest level."
