The reigning champions must win their final game of the Super Sixes stage on Wednesday to keep any hopes of a successful defence alive, but their progression to the final depends on West Indies' result against Australia.
After defeats to Sri Lanka and Australia, England have four points and a net run-rate of 1.079, which currently puts them third in the Super Sixes table.
Providing Australia maintain their 100 per cent record by beating the Windies, a win for England would put them level on points with Merissa Aguilleira's side and result in a straight run-rate calculation.
Australia are already assured of a place in the final and if they lose to the Windies they will face the same team again on Sunday to decide the destination of the title.
England will look to the likes of skipper Charlotte Edwards and Arran Brindle - their top-scorers in the tournament with 132 and 111 runs respectively - to put runs on the board. Sarah Taylor has scored just 35 in four innings, and will be eager to contribute too.
The bowling attack, meanwhile, is led by Katherine Brunt (11 wickets at 11.36) and the in-form Anya Shrubsole (13 wickets at 7.23).
England spinner Holly Colvin told the ECB's official website: "Coming off the back of a really important and quite convincing win against South Africa we're all confident that we don't let that final spot slip again.
"The Australia-West Indies game is completely out of our hands. We've just got to make sure that we focus on New Zealand as well as we can. If everyone performs well and comes to the party tomorrow we have no doubt that will happen."
