The Nottinghamshire batsman is one of several names in the hat as a potential replacement for Kevin Pietersen, who is likely to miss out with a calf strain.
But the 23-year-old, who made a successful Test debut against South Africa last year sharing in a 147 partnership with Pietersen, is not getting ahead of himself.
"It didn't go as I wanted in terms of runs but I thought I played my bit with KP in that partnership we had," he reflected on last year's debut.
"It was a brief taster and hopefully I've learnt from that and it will be different second time around - if there is a second time.
"Hopefully I'm somewhere close but you never know to be honest and I haven't spoken to the selectors.
"I'm not really looking too far ahead, it's easy top get caught up in what might happen."
