James Vince scored his second century of the season as Hampshire advanced their first innings to 289-3 in the 31 overs possible on a rain-affected day two of their Division Two fixture against Surrey at the Rose Bowl.
Vince, on 56 overnight, was unbeaten on 118 from 126 balls - including 17 fours - at the close after sharing an unbroken 65-run, fourth-wicket stand with Will Smith (23no).
Hampshire captain Jimmy Adams was the only wicket to fall on the day, caught by Graeme Smith off the bowling of left-arm spinner Zafar Ansari (1-37).
At New Road, Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal marked his first Worcestershire appearance of the summer by taking 4-60 as Derbyshire were bowled out for 219.
Derbyshire had slipped to 3-2 in the 23 balls possible on day one but, with the sun out, fared better thanks to the efforts of their skipper Wayne Madsen.
No 3 Madsen batted through for 111 not out, putting on 75 for the third wicket with Shivnarine Chanderpaul (32) and 56 alongside Tony Palladino (24) for the ninth.
Ajmal ran through the lower order to build on the earlier good work of seam duo Gareth Andrew (3-46) and Charles Morris (3-61).
Worcestershire reduced their deficit to 188 at stumps, openers Daryl Mitchell (13no) and Matt Pardoe (10no) guiding them to 31-0 in reply.
Runs were easier to come by at Grace Road where Glamorgan closed on 126-0 in reply to Leicestershire's first-innings effort of 500 all out.
Leicestershire made swift progress from a starting position of 221-4 at the start of day two, Niall O'Brien leading the charge with his 13th first-class hundred.
The Irishman hit 133 off 141 deliveries before becoming one of seamer Graham Wagg's victims in a haul of 4-107.

Veteran seamer David Masters enjoyed himself in lively conditions, picking up 4-39 before a combination of bad light and rain again curtailed the action after 31.1 overs.
Gloucestershire opener Chris Dent stood firm with 47 not out.
