An Australian cricket fan will spend one week behind bars after being found guilty of streaking at the first Test in Kandy.

Alex James ran naked on to the field during a rain break in the evening session of day one.

He was not apprehended at the time but was arrested as he left the Pallekelle Stadium later in the day before being bailed.

Cricket Australia said in a statement on Wednesday: "File this one under 'It seemed like a good idea at the time'.

"Australian cricket fan Alex James has been fined 3,000 rupees and sentenced to a week in prison after completing a nude run during the washed-out final session on day one."
