An imperious 182 by Shivnarine Chanderpaul helped Lancashire into a commanding position on day two of their Specsavers County Championship Division One clash against Surrey at The Oval.
Chanderpaul resumed his partnership with overnight centurion Jordan Clark (140) - the pair's seventh-wicket stand tallying 243 runs when Clark was eventually dismissed - and Lancashire had 470 first-innings runs when the West Indian veteran was the last wicket to fall.
Surrey were going along nicely with the bat too, though the loss of Scott Borthwick (19) to what proved to be the final ball of the day somewhat soured their efforts as they closed on 112-2 - Rory Burns 48 not out.
Somerset are strong favourites to clinch victory over Essex ahead of the third day of their match in Taunton.
As many as 18 wickets fell on day two, with the home side skittling Essex out for 129 in their first innings, despite a fifty for Alastair Cook (52) in his first Championship game of the season.
Somerset could then only manage 174 in their second innings - Neil Wagner taking 6-48 - leaving Essex with a testing 255-run target to chase. They were 10-0, with Cook unbeaten on four, at stumps.
Michael Carberry is unbeaten on 84 overnight as he searches for his first Hampshire hundred following a year out of the game for cancer treatment.
Hampshire closed day two of their game against Middlesex at the Ageas Bowl on 209-4 in their first-innings, still trailing by 147 runs.
Earlier, Brad Wheal finished with 4-98 as the home side bowled Middlesex - resuming on 290-6 - out for 356.
Yorkshire continued to dominate their Edgbaston encounter with Warwickshire, bowling their hosts out for 178 on day two before earning a 117-run lead, closing on 295-6 in their first innings.
Ben Coad (5-52) - who picked up four wickets on the first day - took one of the final two Warwickshire wickets to fall early on the second day to claim his second five-wicket haul in as many games.
Peter Handscomb (75) and Tim Bresnan (61) then both hit half centuries for Yorkshire to earn the visitors a healthy lead heading into day three.
