Brendon McCullum inspired Middlesex to T20 Blast victory over Kent in Richmond, despite Matt Coles' hat-trick.

The New Zealander's 88 accounted for almost half his side's 179-8, Kent falling 16 runs short on 163-8 in front of 4,107 spectators - a record outground crowd for Middlesex.

Coles put the breaks on the hosts in the final over as he dismissed James Franklin, John Simpson and Tim Southee in successive balls, but McCullum had already done plenty of damage with a 51-ball thrash featuring six maximums.

Kent lost openers Joe Denly and Daniel Bell-Drummond with just two runs on the board, but half-centuries from Sam Northeast and Jimmy Neesham gave them a chance until both fell to Ryan Higgins.

Elsewhere North Group leaders Leicestershire made it four wins from four games with a 27-run defeat of Durham at Chester-le-Street.

Contributions from Luke Ronchi (32), Cameron Delport (29) and Mark Cosgrove got (33) the Foxes to three figures in the 12th over of their innings, but Paul Collingwood took 4-24 to restrict them to 144-7.

Adam Hickey's first-ball dismissal set the tone for a poor Durham run chase, though, before three Callum Parkinson wickets left them 39-5.

One of the South Group's two remaining unbeaten records went by the wayside at Southampton, Hampshire slipping to a six-wicket defeat at home to Sussex.

Jofra Archer's 4-18 helped stunt the Hampshire innings at 126-9, Tom Alsop's 50-ball 64 the only significant sign of defiance from the home side.

The hosts' total proved no problem to Sussex despite Luke Wright's early exit, Chris Nash (32) and Ben Brown (42) sharing 82 before both fell, leaving Laurie Evans (24no) to finish the job and give Sussex a first win.
