Notts bag Black Cap

Nottinghamshire have signed New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams for the rest of the season.

Black Caps all-rounder moves to Trent Bridge

Nottinghamshire have added to their ranks by signing New Zealand all-rounder Andre Adams for the rest of the season. Notts have had terrible injury problems this season in their bowling department, while Ryan Sidebottom has been missing for most of the season as he returned to the England fold. With current overseas player David Hussey leaving to link-up with Australia A after a great season at Trent Bridge, Notts have decided a replacement is needed. Notts have gone for a bowling option although Adams is an all-rounder, and he will join the county for the remainder of the campaign. Adams will have a familiar face at Notts in Black Caps and county skipper Stephen Fleming, and is available to make his debut in their County Championship match against Northants. The 32-year-old has experience of playing in county cricket after spending two years with Essex, and Notts director of cricket Mick Newell knows they have signed an experienced campaigner. "Andre is an experienced and capable performer who knows all about the county circuit," said Newell. "He actually approached us asking if we were interested, given the situation with our bowling attack, and we were delighted to take him up on the offer."
