Aussie left-hander ruled out India tour

Australian batsman Mike Hussey will miss his country's tour of India after damaging his hamstring in the Twenty20 World Championship semi-final. The loss of Hussey is the latest blow for the Aussies, who lost to India in the last four of the inaugural tournament, with Shane Watson also ruled out and Nathan Bracken given leave to attend the birth of his first child. A statement from Australia's physiotherapist Alex Kountouris read: "Mike Hussey has strained his left hamstring and that will keep him out of the Indian series.

Assessed

"He will continue to be assessed over the next 48 hours in South Africa before returning home to continue his rehabilitation." No replacement has yet been confirmed for Hussey, however Queensland all-rounder James Hopes has been called up to replace Watson, who has also injured his hamstring. Selection panel chairman Andrew Hilditch said: "James Hopes has performed extremely well during Australia A's recent tour of Pakistan and will now have a chance to impress on the tour of India. "A replacement for Hussey will be confirmed in the next 48 hours."
