James Hopes and Adam Voges will join Australia's squad for the one-day tour of India after Michael Hussey was ruled out by a hamstring injury.
Batsman Hussey suffered a strained left hamstring during Saturday's World Twenty20 semi-final defeat to India and joins Shane Watson - who had already been ruled out by a hamstring problem - in missing the seven-match series in India.
Hussey's team-mate Nathan Bracken will also miss the start of the trip, having been given compassionate leave to attend the birth of his first child.
"Nathan Bracken has been given compassionate leave to return to Australia for the birth of his first child," said chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch.
"It is anticipated Nathan will rejoin the squad in India as soon as possible.
"At this stage no replacement player has been called upon and we will take this on a day-by-day basis."
Captain Ricky Ponting, another to hurt his hamstring during the World Twenty20, will travel with the squad but is not expected to feature in the early matches of the series.
Hilditch revealed that Queensland all-rounder Hopes has been called-up to replace Watson, and Western Australia batsman Voges will join the squad as cover for Ponting.
In Hussey's absence, reserve wicketkeeper Brad Haddin is promoted to become a permanent member of party, having previously been set to travel as cover for Ponting - a role now taken by Voges.
"An unfortunate hamstring injury to Mike Hussey during the Twenty20 World Cup has ruled Hussey out of the tour altogether and as such Brad Haddin has been permanently added to the touring party for the tour of India," added Hilditch in a statement.
"Adam Voges, who has recently captained Australia A in Pakistan, has been added to the touring squad as cover for Ponting. Once Ricky has recovered full fitness, Adam will return to Australia."
The series-opener takes place on September 29 in Bangalore.
