Centurion VVS Laxman insists India can still "put pressure" on Australia after leading the fight back on day two of the second Test.
Laxman (109) and Rahul Dravid (53) put on a partnership of 175 as the visitors made their way to 216-3 at stumps in reply to Australia's 463.
Despite losing the pair before the close the game is now evenly poised at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
With Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly unbeaten at the crease, Laxman is convinced the team can go on to take control of the game.
Laxman said: "It's always a satisfying thing for any cricketer to do well against the best team in the world.
"I'm very pleased that I have been able to do consistently well against them in some very tough situations.
"The game's really balanced well now but it's very important how we start off tomorrow morning.
"If we can build a big partnership we can have a big first innings total and put pressure on the Aussies."
Australia won the first Test in Melbourne by 337 runs and are still in pursuit of a record-equalling 16th consecutive Test win at the SCG.
