Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has refused to give up on playing for England again.
The 31-year-old has not played a Test since being axed after the third Ashes Test against Australia in December 2006.
Since then Chris Read, Matt Prior, Paul Nixon, Phil Mustard and Tim Ambrose have all played for England, with Jones seemingly out of the picture.
However Jones believes he still can add to his 34 Tests and 49 ODIs appearances if he keeps playing well for Kent.
"Tim is the man in possession and he is going to get a good run at it," Jones told Sky Sports News.
"He has started off very well - as did Matt - but it seems like a position you need to keep an eye on because it has changed hands quite a lot over the last few years.
Ambition
"I definitely still want to play for England. That is a big ambition but that is something that is in the future and at the moment I have got to work on what I am doing for Kent."
The question of who should wear the gloves for England often sparks intense debate, however Jones believes that the competition for the place is good for the players.
Jones added: "I played against Matt Prior and he is batting fantastically well, so he has obviously gone away and worked hard on his game.
"There is a lot of pressure. There are a load of guys around the county scene who can step up to that position so it is good for all us keepers."
