The England and Wales Cricket Board have revealed Monty Panesar's proposed stint in Sri Lanka with club side Bloomfield has now fallen through.
The left-arm spinner was due to play for a month in Sri Lanka ahead of England's tour of India top gain more experience of bowling on the sub-continent.
Northamptonshire man Panesar is not involved in the Stanford Super Series but will now also not be involved in Sri Lankan cricket.
Reports in Bloomfield say that the ECB were not willing to meet the club's £7,000 fee for accommodating Panesar in their line-up for a month.
The ECB have now confirmed Panesar will not play in Sri Lanka but will instead prepare for the Test series with then England Performance Programme squad.
An official statement read: "Further to recent media reports, the England and Wales Cricket Board can confirm that Monty Panesar will not be travelling to Sri Lanka to play for Bloomfield CC in the Sri Lanka Premier League as previously stated.
"The player was due to travel to Sri Lanka on November 2 to play a series of games for the club to get match practice ahead of joining the England squad for the forthcoming Test Series against India.
"It is now likely that Monty's preparation will be based around the England Performance Programme which includes a high performance camp in India scheduled from mid-November."
