Graham Napier has been called up for the one-day leg of England Lions' tour of New Zealand.
The Essex all-rounder, 29, is already in the country playing domestic cricket for Wellington and will join up with the Lions squad in Christchurch on Thursday.
England and Wales Cricket Board national selector Geoff Miller said: "We've been monitoring Graham's progress for some time.
"With a number of international limited-overs tournaments taking place in the coming year, the selectors felt this was a good opportunity for us to have a closer look at him within the England set-up."
The Lions face New Zealand A in two one-day matches and a Twenty20 fixture, starting on March 13.
It had already been announced that Samit Patel would be staying with the Lions after failing to meet the required fitness levels to join England's one-day squad in West Indies, with Gareth Batty travelling from New Zealand to the Caribbean in his place.
The Lions have also been disrupted by Ravi Bopara and Amjad Khan joining up with the England first team, following Andrew Flintoff's hip injury.
