Ireland all-rounder Kevin O'Brien will join Nottinghamshire on a trial basis once his country's FP Trophy campaign ends.
The 25-year-old will be available for the Outlaws at all times other than when he has international commitments.
He is set to line up for Ireland against Nottinghamshire on Saturday in the one-day competition, though, and will also have ICC World Twenty20 commitments in June, plus a 50-over international to play against England in August.
O'Brien enjoyed an innings of 93 against Nottinghamshire last season, prompting the county's interest and director of cricket Mick Newell is glad to have got his man.
"If he can develop his bowling, Kevin could become a very capable all-rounder. His batting is already at a good level, and that innings against us certainly stuck in my mind over the winter," Newell said.
"As it became clearer that we were likely to be without a few of our players this season because of England commitments, I kept on coming back to what he might be able to offer us."
