Kent opener delighted to be given England one-day chance

Joe Denly is looking forward to his first taste of interntional cricket after being named in England's limited-overs squads. The Kent opener has been included for the one-off ODI against Ireland, two Twenty20s and seven ODIs against Australia and the ICC Champions Trophy in South Africa - all of which take place over the course of the next two months. He described his selection as "a dream come true" and is confident of giving a good account of himself. "It's going to be fantastic," Denly told Sky Sports News. "It's something that everyone dreams of doing. "A few years ago I was just thinking about playing for my county.

Proud

"I've done quite well for them and to play for England would be a dream come true and something I'd be very proud of. "I've been hitting the ball pretty well for Kent this season. I'm not top of the sixes league by any means but I'd like to say I can clear the boundary." Denly, 23, is hoping to use the one-day arena to enhance his prospects of a Test call-up in the future. "I've got this opportunity in the one-day stuff but Test cricket is the ultimate for any cricketer," he added. "My four-day cricket has been pretty good this year so hopefully I can push on and fight for a place in the Test side."
