Fisher and Ahmed to leave at end of season

Worcestershire have confirmed that Ian Fisher and Mehraj Ahmed will be leaving the club at the end of the season. The Pears decided not to offer new contracts to left-arm spinner Fisher, 33, and seam bowler Ahmed, 20, following a disappointing campaign that has seen the county relegated from the top-flight of the LV County Championship without winning a single game. The duo are the latest players to head for the New Road exit - England internationals Steve Davies and Gareth Batty are joining Surrey, while injury-prone paceman Simon Jones has also been released. Seam bowler Kabir Ali has asked to be freed from the final year of his contract in 2010 in order to join Hampshire - although the move is subject to compensation being agreed. Opening batsman Stephen Moore, meanwhile, has yet to decide whether to exercise a relegation release clause in the three-year contract he signed in August 2008.
