New Zealand's Jacob Oram will miss the two-match Twenty20 series against Pakistan in Dubai after returning home to be with his wife, who is expecting their first baby.
The Black Caps are also without seam bowler Kyle Mills for the first match on Thursday due to a shoulder injury.
Mills will stay with the team in the hope he can recover in time for the second game on Friday.
New Zealand are hoping all-rounder James Franklin, who practised on Wednesday, will be available for both matches.
