England release left-armer for Notts' final Championship game

Nottinghamshire will have England seamer Ryan Sidebottom available for their County Championship decider against Lancashire on Monday after he was released from international duty. England have allowed Sidebottom to leave the squad for the current NatWest one-day international series against Pakistan in order to play for his county at Old Trafford. Sidebottom will leave the England squad after being unused in the opening two matches against Pakistan, and the 32-year-old seamer's inclusion is set to be a boost for Nottinghamshire. The current Division One leaders hold a slender two-point lead over Somerset heading into the final round of matches. The match is also set to be Sidebottom's last for the county after he last month failed to agree terms on a new contract. "Ryan's availability is a boost for us and it will be a fitting end to his time here if he helps us to win the game," Nottinghamshire director of cricket Mick Newell said. Three counties head into the last week with hopes of claiming the title with Yorkshire joining Nottinghamshire and Somerset in search of the season's honours. Yorkshire seemingly have the easiest task of all three teams as they host strugglers Kent at Headingley, although they must overcome a seven-point gap. Somerset, who have never won a Division One title, travel to champions Durham. All four days of the crucial match between Lancashire and Notts will be screened live on Sky Sports.
