Pace bowler reaps benefits of stunning Ashes performance
England bowler Chris Tremlett has been handed an incremental contract for
2010-11 season by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
The Surrey paceman was rewarded by the ECB on the back of his superb performance in England's memorable Ashes triumph over Australia.
The 29-year-old was regarded as something of a surprise selection when team director Andy Flower named his Test party to tour Down Under, but he took his chance in stunning fashion after Stuart Broad was struck down by injury.
He claimed a total of 17 wickets in the series as he played the last three Tests of England's 3-1 victory.
Incremental contracts are awarded on a points basis, with players needing to reach 20 points to be awarded one, and Tremlett's appearance in the three one-day internationals in the current series against the Australians - combined to his Ashes outings, took him past that threshold.
"The selectors are delighted with the contribution Chris has made in both forms of the game this winter," ECB national selector Geoff Miller stated.
"His return of 17 wickets from three Test matches in Australia was an outstanding effort and he can be very proud of the role he played in helping the team retain the Ashes."
