England are awaiting updates on an injury to Stuart Broad after clinching victory in the NatWest Series over India at Lord's on Sunday.
Broad hurt his triceps in the final over of India's 280 for five, and must now be a doubt for the series finale in Cardiff.
Broad would have been prepared to bat through the pain had he been required in a contest which ended with England on 270 for eight - exactly par on the Duckworth-Lewis system - immediately after Ravi Bopara was last out for a career-best 96.
Bopara and Cook admitted to mixed feelings afterwards, at failing to close out victory yet still in the knowledge England are 2-0 up with only one to play.
There was a note of consternation in Cook's voice, however, when he confirmed England have little idea how badly Twenty20 captain and key fast bowler Broad might be injured.
"We don't know. It only happened a couple of hours ago. He will go for a scan tonight or tomorrow, and we'll see how it settles down over the next 24 to 48 hours.
"He was padded up, ready to go. I'm not sure how effective he would have been, but with a few pain-killers he might have been all right."
