West Indies star Shivnarine Chanderpaul is a huge doubt for the third and final Test against India on Tuesday.
Captain Darren Sammy revealed Chanderpaul is battling to shake off the calf muscle injury suffered during the second Test at Eden Gardens.
The left-hander is the West Indies' most experienced player and scored more runs than any of his team-mates as the tourists lost both of the opening matches.
Chanderpaul, 37, who bats with an unorthodox stance, sat out Sunday's practice and did not bat in Monday's session.
Sammy said: "We are monitoring his situation. The experienced player that he is, I guess he will know if he could really make it.
"But we have to wait until Tuesday to decide."
The skipper believes his young team has played well in patches of their Indian tour and has learned to be more consistent against better Test sides - despite facing a 3-0 whitewash.
He added: "Once we keep showing the improvement I am quite happy.
"So far we have been playing good cricket but we have to be more consistent.
"The team has some good players coming through, so it's about building and being consistent in our performances."
