David Lloyd and Timm van der Gugten starred as Glamorgan continued their remarkable form in the NatWest T20 Blast with a 46-run victory over Sussex at the SSE SWALEC.

Lloyd cracked 11 fours and two sixes in a brutal 55-ball 81 on a slow Cardiff pitch before Van der Gugten ripped apart the Sussex top order with figures of 4-17, the pair helping Glamorgan extend their unbeaten run to seven Blast games.

Lloyd shared in impressive partnerships with Colin Ingram (16) and Jacques Rudolph (24), off 42 and 57 respectively for the second and third wickets.

Sussex's Sri Lankan Nuwan Kulasekera impressed with figures of 4-28 while recent England T20 debutant Tymal Mills took 2-23 as Glamorgan stumbled from 128-2 in the 14th over to finish on only 159-8.

It proved to be more than enough though Van der Gugten took three wickets in as many overs at the start of the Sussex innings to leave them 22-3 in the seventh over.

A 37-run partnership between Ross Taylor (19) and Matt Machan (20) gave Sussex some hope but when both men fell within seven balls of each other, any feint hopes of a win for the visitors were gone and they ultimately slumped to 113 all out in the penultimate over.

Skipper Sam Northeast led the way with 75 off 52 balls as Kent beat Somerset by 12 runs at Taunton.

Kent posted 187-5 after winning the toss, Northeast striking nine fours and two sixes - Joe Denly (35) and Alex Blake (26no) providing valuable support.

In reply, the hosts managed 175-9, with only Peter Trego (63 off 34 balls) showing the necessary aggression and quality.

Darren Stevens was the standout bowler for the visitors, taking 3-30 to help secure the win. Both sides remain out of the top four playoff spots.

The third Thursday night game between Derbyshire and Northamptonshire was abandoned without a ball being bowled due to bad weather.
