Nottinghamshire stalwart Paul Franks has been made the county's assistant head coach.

The 37-year-old former all-rounder, who made his Notts debut in 1996 and retired from first-team cricket in 2015, has been promoted from his captaincy and coaching role with the second XI and academy.

Having completed the ECB Level 4 coaching qualification, Franks will work alongside recently-appointed head coach Peter Moores as the county targets a return to Division One of the County Championship after relegation this year.

Notts director of cricket Mick Newell said: "Not only is Paul an impressive young coach, he's also part of the fabric of the club having achieved so much during his time as a player.
