Surrey lost two wickets to finish a shortened second day of their LV= County Championship Division Two clash against Glamorgan on 209-7.
Only 12.5 overs of play were possible at the Oval due to rain, though that was enough time for Jim Allenby to strike twice for the visitors.
The all-rounder had both Jason Roy (15) and Tom Curran, who failed to trouble the scorers, caught behind by wicketkeeper Mark Wallace, meaning Allenby now has figures of 4-39 from 25 overs.
However he couldn't find a way to remove Zafar Ansari; having reached close on Sunday on 50 not out, the left-hander added a further 10 runs to help carry Surrey past 200 in their opening match of the new domestic campaign.
Stuart Meaker made an unbeaten nine for the hosts before the umpires suspended play due to bad weather, meaning 86 overs have so far been bowled in the match.
In the other second tier fixture taking place, Hampshire and Worcestershire suffered a complete washout at the Ageas Bowl. The hosts had been due to resume on 37-3, skipper Jimmy Adams one of the unbeaten batsmen with 32 to his name, after the two counties had managed to get through a mere 8.5 overs on the opening day.
