The defending champions were in trouble after being reduced to 38-3 in reply to Somerset's 340, but Javid and Evans led a brilliant recovery to take the score to 283-3 at the close of play.
The duo put on a stand of 199 against Nottinghamshire in July, when Javid batted at eight, and this time bettered that by adding an unbroken 245.
Twice dismissed in the 80s, Javid moved from 99 to 103 not out to complete his maiden first-class century in the penultimate over of the day.
Evans, with the confidence of a career-best 178 behind him against Nottinghamshire, had cruised to his hundred with 17 fours and at stumps he was unbeaten on 130 after facing 223 balls.
A dry pitch, in its fourth day since first being used for Friends Life t20 finals at the weekend, did not turn as much as Somerset, who have recruited the Indian spinner Piyush Chawla for the rest of the season, may have hoped.
Ireland spinner George Dockrell enjoyed a better outing than Chawla, taking two early wickets and conceding only seven boundaries in a full return of 2-62 in 28 overs.
Warwickshire's troubles began with Ian Westwood (8) being caught behind off Peter Trego but the nightwatchman, Recordo Gordon, more than did his job in outlasting a senior partner.
Gordon rarely aspires to double figures in Second XI cricket and yet on stepping up to the LV= County Championship for the first time, he stayed for an hour-and-a-quarter, making 13 until Dockrell trapped him lbw.
Varun Chopra (13) became the slow left-armer's second victim, the home side's acting captain edging to Marcus Trescothick at slip before Javid and Evans began to pile on the runs.
