Ben Stokes has signed a new one-year contract extension with Durham.
The 25-year-old England star has spent his entire professional career with the county and will remain there until the end of 2017 at least.
Durham chief executive David Harker said: "Ben is one of the finest players in world cricket, and we're delighted he has chosen to carry on his county career with Durham.
"He is approaching the prime years of his career and, while we may not see him as much as we would like over the next year, his influence remains huge around the club.
"Ben is a shining example of what our young players can achieve with hard work and dedication to go alongside talent."
All-rounder Stokes, who has had an injury-interrupted summer with club and country, has made three centuries in his 25 Tests to date.
This included a career-best 258 against South Africa in Cape Town in January of this year. He has 60 Test wickets, and 45 in T20 and ODIs combined.
