Hampshire have released batsman Joe Gatting and bowlers Tom Barber and Basil Akram.

Gatting, 27, leaves after two seasons at the Ageas Bowl having joined them from neighbours Sussex.

He made 26 first-team appearances in all competitions, with his highest score 67 against Derbyshire in April last year.

He did well when he played this season, scoring 280 in his four first-class appearances at an average of 47.62 - the best in the Hampshire squad.

Barber, a left-arm seam bowler, announced himself to the first class game by dismissing Kane Williamson and Andrew Gale in consecutive deliveries against Yorkshire but he has since struggled to break into the first team.

Akram signed for the club during the 2014 season after impressing in the seconds and for Loughborough MCCU.
