South Africa bowler Dale Steyn will join Hampshire as an overseas player for the 2018 season, the club has confirmed.
Steyn will join Hampshire in June and train at the Ageas Bowl ahead of South Africa's tour of Sri Lanka in July, before returning to the squad for the final weeks of the season.
During his training stint, Steyn will also fill in for his South African team-mate Hashim Amla, who has joined Hampshire for the first three months of the season, for two matches: a Royal London One-Day Cup clash against Somerset and a County Championship match against Surrey.
The 34-year-old pace bowler has taken 419 wickets in Test cricket and is now just two dismissals away from equalling Shaun Pollock's record for South Africa.
Hampshire confirmed the signing in a statement on Friday, which read: "Hampshire Cricket are delighted to announce the signing of South African fast-bowler, Dale Steyn."
Hampshire's director of cricket Giles White added: "Dale is one of the best bowlers in the world and is extremely motivated to get going after a frustrating period on the side-lines.
"It seems a great fit for both parties - we hope that we can help him get back to his best and we look forward to welcoming him to Hampshire."
