Matt Renshaw's third Specsavers County Championship century in eight innings for Somerset was the feature of a closely-fought opening day of the match with leaders Nottinghamshire at Taunton.
The Australian left-hander hit 106 off 171 balls, with 12 fours and two sixes, before becoming a third victim for off-spinner Matthew Carter as the hosts closed the day 307-7 after winning the toss.
Renshaw, playing in his final home Championship match due to an Australia A tour call-up in August, has scored 411 runs in Division One for Somerset at an average of 58.7.

Rory Burns produced a near-flawless century against Hampshire as Surrey recovered from an early blip to dominate a truncated day one at the Ageas Bowl.
Captain Burns reached an unbeaten 109 by the close of play to boost the visitors to 216-3 after opting to bat first.

Sean Dickson became the first Kent player to register a hundred in the County Championship this season as Gloucestershire's bowlers were made to toil in Bristol.
