Warwickshire's fears of relegation from the Specsavers County Championship Division One were made bleaker as Hampshire reduced them to 49-6 on day two at the Ageas Bowl.

Sitting in seventh place and yet to win a match this season, Warwickshire slumped in the evening session while attempting to chase 515 for first innings parity.

Mason Crane (2-6) and Matt Salisbury (2-13) picked up two wickets each, while Australian debutant Ian Holland (1-4) grabbed his maiden wicket for the club.

Sean Ervine and Jimmy Adams had combined to take Hampshire's record fourth wicket stand to 367, earlier in the day, before Warwickshire youngster Sukhjit Singh (6-144) broke the partnership and went on to claim his first five-wicket haul for the county.

Adam Lyth struck a maiden hundred of the season for Yorkshire, to help them tighten control on proceedings against Lancashire in the Roses clash at Headingley.

Yorkshire then reduced their rivals to 141-4 at close, as they aim to wrap the match up in three days.
