His injury is the latest in a long line of problems the club's pacemen have suffered this season and coach Paul Grayson has confirmed he may try to make another loan signing before the weekend.
David Masters, the lynchpin of the Essex attack, is expected to be out of action for at least another two weeks, and Tymal Mills is currently out of action with a groin problem.
Graham Napier has emerged as a potential problem after picking up a groin problem during Essex's defeat to Worcestershire.
And Reece Topley has only just returned to action after recovering from a back injury and he was not risked at Worcester.
That leaves Matt Salisbury, who took five wickets on a highly promising Championship debut at Worcester, and Jesse Ryder as the only fully fit pacemen at Grayson's disposal.
"We only have a couple of fit bowlers. It may be a case of getting somebody in on loan for the weekend," Grayson told BBC Essex.
"It's all hands to the pump for the physio at the moment."
