James Anderson says he is "fully fit" and hoping to play in one of Lancashire's remaining County Championship games.

England's leading Test wicket-taker was forced to sit out the final two matches of the Ashes series after injuring an intercostal muscle.

But the 33-year-old is on course to return for the series with Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates and hopes to limber up with his first county outing of the season.

"I am hopefully going to play for Lancashire at the end of this season, which will be good," he said.

"I am fully fit now, but it was frustrating at the time. I have never done an intercostal side muscle before, so I was obviously a bit worried about it.

"I have been very fortunate that in the last five years or so, I have not had an injury, so you just have to accept that it does happen and there could be a number of reasons for it to happen so you just have to deal with it."
