Luke Wells bludgeoned his way to a career-best 258 to put Sussex firmly in charge of their Specsavers County Championship Division Two game against Durham on day two at Hove.
Having missed Sussex's opening two championship matches of the season due to a knee injury, Wells made up for lost time by putting Durham's bowlers to the sword with 34 fours and seven sixes in his 311-ball innings.
Wells also put on 376 for the third wicket alongside Stiaan van Zyl, who ended the day on an unbeaten 141 to lift Sussex to a commanding 452-4 and a lead of 165 at the halfway point of the Division Two contest.
Of the other three Division Two games, all ending on day four, only Worcestershire could force a victory, thrashing Derbyshire by an innings and 42 runs.
Worcestershire captain Joe Leach took 5-32 from 13 overs as Derbyshire were skittled for just 98 in their second innings.
Worcestershire had earlier laid the platform for their victory charge by declaring on 415-9, 140 ahead, after a rapid 42 off 47 balls from Tom Kohler-Cadmore.
In Cardiff, Colin Ingram ground out a match-saving 155 over almost 10 hours as Glamorgan defied Nottinghamshire to hold out for a draw.
Ingram's knock occupied 427 balls and, along with a similarly stubborn 113 from Chris Cooke, helped Glamorgan, who had been made to follow on 261 behind, safely see out the day without losing a wicket - finishing 420-5.
Meanwhile, Darren Stevens scored a century for Kent while their tailenders also rallied as they earned a draw with Leicestershire at Grace Road.
Stevens (100) kicked on from his overnight score of 54 - Kent still trailing by 227 runs with only five first-innings wickets remaining - while Adam Rouse (60), James Tredwell (55) and Matt Coles (56no) also fired.
It helped Kent earn a first-innings lead of 42 runs, but the contest closed in a draw as Leicestershire breezed to 61-2 in their second dig when stumps came.
