Vince finished up unbeaten on 106 after combining with Liam Dawson (70) in a third-wicket stand worth 158 that was only eventually ended by the latter being run out.
The pair had come together with the score on 23-2 after the visitors, who were put in by Worcestershire captain Daryl Mitchell, had lost both openers early.
Hampshire skipper Jimmy Adams was dismissed for his seventh duck in 21 championship innings this season when he was caught behind off Alan Richardson's third ball.
The veteran seamer also dismissed Michael Roberts for 13 to take his tally for the season in four-day cricket to 61 wickets, Moeen Ali taking the catch at slip.
However the fielder put down Vince with the score on 38 - Graeme Cessford the unfortunate bowler - and Moeen also went on to spill Dawson off Richardson shortly before the all-rounder reached a half-century.
Play was held up for 50 minutes after lunch and on the resumption runs flowed at an alarming rate for Worcestershire.
Ross Whiteley sent back Dawson with a throw from cover but soon after Vince pulled a six and hit two fours to ease to three figures.
He was still going strong when play was interrupted again, though this time there would be no chance for any further action. It meant 43 overs had been lost because of bad light and rain.
