Joe Clarke achieved his career-best score and Joe Leach struck a first century for three years as Worcestershire's batsmen dominated a rain-truncated second day against Derbyshire at New Road.

Clarke, who was unbeaten on 117 overnight, went on to make 194 as he surpassed his previous best tally of 135 versus Gloucestershire at Bristol in his first innings of the summer.

Leach made an unbeaten 107 before the declaration came at 475-7 in mid-afternoon.

But a mixture of bad light and then persistent rain meant Derbyshire faced only 2.3 overs before play was abandoned for the day with the score on 15-0.

Glamorgan's seamers picked up Leicestershire's last eight second-innings wickets for just 85 runs to move in to a strong position at Grace Road.

Half-centuries from Angus Robson (72) and Neil Dexter (73) had moved Leicestershire into the lead but Timm van der Gugten (4-81) and Michael Hogan (3-55) shared seven wickets to dismiss the hosts for 283.

Needing 181 to win, Glamorgan lost an early wicket when pacy left-arm seamer Dieter Klein trapped Nick Selman lbw before bad light saw play ended 15 overs early.

After a first-day washout and an uncontested toss, the 40-year-old all-rounder - whose contract expires at the end of the match - reached the 31st ton of his first-class career - with a flat-bat six over backward point off Paul Walter.

Sam Northeast and Joe Denly also posted half-centuries as Kent racked up four batting bonus points, leaving them to secure one more from this final-round game in order to clinch second place.

Half-centuries from Luke Wells (75) and Chris Nash (66) put Sussex in a strong position to build a first-innings cushion over Gloucestershire on day three at Bristol.

The home side, 201-7 overnight, slipped to 229 all out after opener Chris Dent added just four runs to his day-one 86 not out before falling caught and bowled to Jofra Archer (3-39).

Tom Haines fell for a single at the start of Sussex's reply - the first of four wickets for Josh Shaw (4-45) - but by stumps the visitors were well-placed on 208-4 to take the lead.
