Billy Root's maiden limited-overs century helped Nottinghamshire to a 10-run Royal London One-Day Cup win over Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

The Outlaws made 303-6 from their 50 overs thanks to Root's unbeaten 107 off 93 balls with 10 fours and two sixes, supported by Steven Mullaney's 89.

When Michael Lumb (56) perished, the Outlaws were struggling at 92-4 but Mullaney and Root, England Test captain Joe's brother, counter-attacked to take the team past 300.

In reply, Jonathan Trott continued his prolific 50-over form with his 21st limited-overs century but the chase proved beyond his colleagues as the Bears fell short on 293-9.

Laurie Evans blasted an unbeaten 134 to help Sussex land a six-wicket victory over winless South Group rivals Kent in Canterbury.

Evans blasted a maiden white-ball ton off 73 balls and finished unbeaten with nine fours and eight sixes to his name as a lacklustre Spitfires attack failed to defend a 300-plus total for the second match running.

Earlier, Daniel Bell-Drummond (138) struck a fourth List A hundred and his second in successive knocks in this year's One-Day cup campaign only to finish on the losing side once more.

Chasing 332 to win, Evans, whose previous best in white ball cricket had been a modest 70 for his previous club Warwickshire, fired Sussex to victory.

Worcestershire moved to the top of the North Group after a superb Tom Kohler-Cadmore century and fine all-round display from Daryl Mitchell helped them defeat previous leaders Yorkshire.

Kohler-Cadmore scored 118 off 119 balls as the Rapids achieved their highest List A score against first-class opposition at New Road - 342 all out in 48.5 overs.

Then Mitchell followed up his knock of 69 with three key wickets as Yorkshire, despite a List A-best performance from Australian batsman Peter Handscomb (88), were bowled out for 291 in 46.3 overs, handing the hosts a 51-run win.

A career-best 144 not out from Jim Allenby against his former club ensured Somerset maintained their perfect start to the One-Day Cup with a 170-win over Glamorgan in Cardiff.

Allenby and James Hildreth (58 off 28) staged a furious assault on the Glamorgan attack, with the pair plundering 134 from the final 10 overs as Somerset amassed 338-3.

Glamorgan lost their openers, David Lloyd and Jacques Rudolph, cheaply and never really recovered, slipping to 168 all out in 36.4 overs.

A well-crafted unbeaten century by Northamptonshire captain Alex Wakely guided his side to their first win in this year's One-Day Cup and condemned Lancashire to their third successive defeat.

Needing 325 to win at Aigburth, the Steelbacks reached their target with 20 balls to spare and six wickets in hand, with Wakely 109 not out.

Earlier, four Lancashire batsmen made half-centuries, with Jordan Clark's unbeaten 76 from 51 balls the pick - including 24 off Nathan Buck's final over - but it wasn't to be enough.

Paul Collingwood guided Durham to a five-wicket win over Leicestershire at the South Northumberland club ground in Gosforth.

After taking 3-42 in dismissing the visitors for 211 with one ball remaining, Collingwood then went in to bat with his side 122-3 and struck an unbeaten 65.

After losing what proved to be an important toss, Leicestershire slumped to 13-4 and only just inched to a total over 200 thanks to tailender Zak Chappell's unbeaten 59, but it wasn't enough due to Collingwood's efforts.

An unbroken fourth wicket stand of 117 runs in 19 overs between Rory Burns and Ben Foakes took Surrey to victory by seven wickets in their match against Middlesex at The Oval.

Middlesex, with just one victory in four matches, are now facing an uphill struggle to progress after failing to defend a score of 243-9 after being put into bat.

Scott Borthwick (45) and Kumar Sangakkara (59) put Surrey firmly in control with a second wicket partnership of 91, but when both fell in quick succession, Burns (67) and Foakes (55) took charge.

Earlier, Nick Gubbins (65) and John Simpson (75) impressed for Middlesex, but both lacked support to post the major total needed.
